Bainbridge Community Foundation Awards $69,238 in Community
Grants to Nonprofits with Help from Local
Philanthropists
The Bainbridge Community Foundation has awarded
grants to 20 local non-profit organizations for
its 2008 Community Grants program. The grants
were awarded to a wide range of organizations,
all providing essential services and support
during this time of increasing economic need.

Award Amounts
From The
Bainbridge Fund, the community needs fund at
Bainbridge Community Foundation, and Plan B
Fund, a partnering designated fund:

Bainbridge Arts & Crafts:
$4,000 to help fund an Art Rental Manager.
·
Bainbridge Performing Arts:
$3,000 to purchase a projection screen for
staging and set enhancement.
·
Bainbridge Youth Services:
$3,800 to fund database and website development.
·
Boys & Girls Club of Bainbridge Island:
$4,000 to support educational and career
development programs.
·
Health, Housing and Human Services Council:
$6,000 to support agency capacity training and
Board training programs.
·
Helpline House: $2,500
to support Stepping Stones program.
·
Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers:
$4,000 to provide operational expenses for
community-based services.
·
Island Music Guild:
$4,000 to support growth and transition of
operational model.
·
IslandWood: $1,500 to
support Enviro-Exploration community series.
·
Kitsap Legal Services:
$3,000 to operate a legal clinic for low-income
clients on Bainbridge Island.

Literacy Council of Kitsap:
$2,000 to support literacy education program.
·
One Call For All: $2,938
to replace obsolete, previously used computers.
·
Ovation! Musical Theater Bainbridge:
$1,500 to support production costs and fees for
theatrical productions.

Salish
Sea Expeditions:
$3,500 to support science and environmental
education programs.
·
Sound
Works Job Center:
$3,000 to provide operating support for
low-income clients’ job search needs.
·
Sustainable Bainbridge:
$1,500 for Sound Food fresh produce program at
the ferry terminal.

Washington State Smile Partners:
$3,000 to support preventative dental care
program for low-income seniors.

$500 from the Sada Ross Fund to fund database
and website development.

Bob & Judy Karr Family Fund for operational
support and scholarships.

$2,500 from the Alder Fund to support science

$1,000 from the Harald Hurlen Fund to support

$2,000 from the Harald Hurlen Fund to support
science and environmental education.

West Sound Wildlife Shelter:
$4,000 from the Alder Fund and $1,000 from the
Harald Hurlen Fund to fund educational outreach
program.
