GRANTS INFORMATION
In preparaton for our 2012 Community Grants Cycle, the Bainbridge Community Foundation is pleased to introduce the 2012 Nonprofit Survey.
The focus groups will include a facilitated discussion about the issues, opportunities and trends facing each sector. Following the open portion of the focus groups, individuals will complete a confidential survey independently.
As space is limited, we ask that each agency send only one representative.
All individual responses to the survey are confidential. The feedback from the survey will be shared only in the aggregate.

The application guidelines for each type of grant are described below. We welcomed proposals from 501(c)(3) organizations that serve Bainbridge Island residents.
Annual Community Grants Cycle (CGC)
The Bainbridge Community Foundation awarded the highest dollar amount in the Foundation’s history for its 2011 annual Community Grants Cycle with $233,000 in grant awards. BCF more than doubled the amount from 2010 due to special grantmaking partnerships, including the $100,000 Ampersand Human Services Grant Program, the $10,000 Karen Davis Award, and nearly $88,000 in matching grants from BCF’s donors and advised funds.
There were several important improvements and additions to this year’s community grant-making.
The Community Grants Cycle application was simplified to make the process easier for applicants.
The BCF Trustees’ Award was available to fund proposal(s) that support agency collaboration or benefit multiple non-profits.
The Karen Davis Award was available to fund proposals that promoted dialogue and conflict resolution, including training for youth.
Additional 2011 Grant Opportunity: Ampersand Human Services Grant Program
In 2011, a one-time Ampersand Human Services Grant Program for health and human service agencies complemented the Community Grants Cycle.
Recognizing that the current economy has created a greater need for safety net services, the Ampersand Fund awarded $100,000 to twelve non-profits providing basic health and human services to Bainbridge Island residents.
2011 is the only year the Ampersand Human Services Grant Program will be offered. It was administered in conjunction with the 2011 Community Grants Cycle, using the same application deadlines and proposal review process.

Community Response Fund (CRF)
The Community Response Fund is an area-of-interest fund established by the Bainbridge Community Foundation in 2009. The fund began as an idea from a group of nonprofit staff and community leaders who wanted to ensure that Bainbridge residents would continue to be served by local human service agencies, despite any downturns in the economy and decline in agency donations. The purpose of the fund is to assist local non-profit human service agencies that experience an unexpected temporary funding need that impacts their ability to provide critical community services. As such, it provides a safety net for the agencies that provide a safety net for our community.

Housing Action Fund
The Housing Action Fund is an area-of-interest fund established by the Bainbridge Community Foundation in 2009. The fund began as an idea from a group of affordable housing advocates who wanted to ensure the availability of “seed money” to take advantage of affordable housing opportunities.
